Happy Jubilee Weekend!

This weekend, I have not really done much in the way of celebrating the queen's jubilee.
However, I have had some laughs.
I had the architects summer ball on friday, went for sushi on saturday, and had some folks round mine for dinner last night - Pasta bake and rhubarb crumble.

In terms of making things....

I made some egg box mice!

Ta da!
 Happy bank holiday everyone!

I am forever making lists.

This summer, I have the time to create, the time to explore. And so I shall.
My list of demands is long.

  • Re-Kindle my Etsy account and try to get myself established.
  • Oven Mitts
  • Knitted tea cosies
  • Summer Wreaths
  • Stamps
  • Cut Paper art
  • Dream Catchers
  • Washer Necklace
  • Tea Cup candles
  • A painting Jewelry case
  • Use all the plastic bags in this house - plarn or melting.
Keep your eyes here to see all this spill out!

In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years.

(Abraham Lincoln)

So I have finished my first year of university, and, my, how the time flies! All those late nights, early mornings, tears, stress and laughs all came down to a crunch and a few deadlines. I've had a great 'year' at uni, and I'm awfully sad to have said goodbye to it.

The outcome of Project 7 - full write up here
And now that my life is much emptier, I can move on to make all the things that I've been wanting to all year. I've been shopping at the charity shop a fair bit, and I've managed to pick up these beauties.

A very old, but still beautiful, tin - originally a toffee tin.

A great typewriter.
Apologies to housemates and neighbours for the noise!

And whilst I was tidying my room,
I made good use of the bird cages!

Post Hitch Creativity

Hello All,
I've been away on a hitch-hiking trip, which was fantastic and I have gained a lot of experience, ideas and a couple of languages because of it. To see the adventures, please click here.

When I went home after a 3 week excursion, obviously the first priority was to bake! So I made a chocolate heart cake (which my brother artfully cut).

I then went on to make another chocolate cake and a lemon drizzle... YUM

I am attending a Lady Gaga night tomorrow night (saturday) and so I made some stylish glasses from some glasses that looked like this:

... And from inspiration from this:

Lady Gaga "Gaga" Glasses
.... I made these!!! (with the aid of tipex!)

I'm teaming them with a catsuit, big spikey silver heels and a hair bow/ telephone on my head - not quite decided yet.
Buzzing for it.

What I Wore Today

The "What I Wore Today (doodle yourself into a style icon)" phenomenon is brilliant. I like to think it is simultaneously a homage and a jab at the pretension of things like lookbook.nu (which I do actually love sometimes). My fave so far is one from Joel Benjamin.

It is just so funny, I had to share it with you. I can only hope to look this cool when I have a cold.
Peace out.

Random Inspiring Internet Fun Times

Step one.
Click on the video to play.

Step Two.
Read my ramblings whilst listening to Michael Kiwanuka's beauty.

I have spent hours on the internet this afternoon (as well as learning an awesome hula hoop move).
Below are the fruits of my 'labour':

Egg shell mosaic art. It's a massive leap from when we used to do the
same thing aged 5 or so.... I think I will do an entire door in it in my new house.
Extreme birdhouse. Look at that guy; seriously it is crazy. The architect in me
says ' incredible!' and the realist in me knows that it'll be covered in ick pretty fast indeed.

Random Creepy Guy. Enough said really, though there
are a lot of rubbish ones on the site...

The Electric Forest
A great night light trail in the woods.
Coming to Dorset 11-19th feb 2012
baconsoap
Yes, that's right. I found the weird geeky bit of the net.
Bacon is good for me, right?

This is outstanding.
 Todd Mclellan, marry me.
The sketchbook or diary becomes the central line of inquiry
 for Peter Callesen .....

... and the thoughts which we put in it. He continues to blow my little mind.
Yes, it is a bit twisted, but Thomas Czarnecki looks at potential alternatives
to Disney's 'happy ever afters' . What if it was all a trap for Alice?
What if Cinderella had fallen down the stairs?
What if Pocahontas became a hunter's trophy?
Check it out.

DIY Embellished tights! So simple that it angers me that
I didn't already think of it. Shall do this I think... or maybe this.

Alright. I'll stop.
If the song has run out, then I suggest you run after it, all the way to youtube/other listening places and find some more chilled music. More of Kiwanka? Maybe some summer boat jamming fun with Lisa Hannigan and John Smith?

Or, something even better....
My Drunk Kitchen
Mimosas! (from episode 'Brunch')
You can find Hannah Harto, My Drunk Kitchen extraordinaire, on youtube or on her swanky page. It'll be one of the best things you do today, I assure you.

ALSO. Please visit my other page - http://abibanfield.posterous.com/ Pretty please!!

Have a lovely day.

Long Time, No Post

Dear Reader,
First of all I would like to thank you for reading this.
I know I haven't been the most interesting blog so far, and I want to up the ante considering I have big ideas planned for this year. My new years resolution is to bring the art and creativity into my personal life rather than keep it bottled up for coursework. I really do believe that creativity has no limit; the more you create, the more ideas you have, and then it just keeps on going. Or at least this is the notion in my head.
I am braving my life to hitch-hike to Croatia in Easter. SO little time left to raise money! I'll be crafting my way to the  fundraising total with the help of Etsy.
Keep your eyes peeled!
All my love,
Abi

PS The website, 'Dear Photograph', always inspires me. Enjoy:
Dear Photograph,

New Year’s resolutions and 30 years gone by…what was that little boy inside of me thinking about so long ago? I hope I never quit chasing that little boy’s dreams. It’s what matters most.
